New show in the US on the outcomes of home DNA tests / by Katy Barbier-Greenland

A casting callout has just gone out for a new show in the US about people who have taken a DNA test and are dealing with the aftermath of unexpected results. The show will follow people on their journey of discovery and all that entails, including things like reaching out to newfound family members or exploring genetic matches, plus speaking with family about the reasons for the secrecy. The show will be aired on a major cable network.

I think that these are such important issues, and I hope that shining a light on people’s experiences will help others going through a similar thing. It is always heartening to have people share their stories and we can learn so much from them.

For this show, support will be critical, and I do hope that people make sure they are really, truly ready to go public with their family secret before deciding to take part.
